Dr. oec. HSG René Saluz graduated from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in 1987 with a licentiate degree and subsequently gained his first practical experience at the Swiss Bank Corporation (which later became UBS). In 1993, he successfully completed his doctoral dissertation entitled "Cost and Revenue Management in Banking Using Profit Centers."
During his doctoral studies, Dr. René Saluz began his professional career as Head of Asset & Liability Management at Zürcher Kantonalbank. This was followed by further roles as Head of Accounting at both the Schwyz Cantonal Bank and the Lucerne Cantonal Bank, as well as a position in bank consulting at KPMG Fides Peat in Zurich.
From 2005, Dr. Saluz held various roles at Basler Kantonalbank, including Head of the Competence Center for Finance and CFO of the BKB Group. In 2015, he moved to Bank Cler (formerly Bank Coop), where he was responsible for the Finance and Risk division, including the departments of Financial Management, Risk Control, Credit Office, and Recovery. During this time, he was also a member of the Executive Board and served as Vice President of the Pension Fund of Basler Kantonalbank.
In parallel to his professional responsibilities, Dr. Saluz began teaching in 2006 at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel, focusing on applied financial and managerial accounting for undergraduate students.
With his extensive banking experience, Dr. René Saluz has been supporting Liberty Vorsorge AG since March 2020 as a member of the Executive Board and CFO. As Head of the Group Services division, he is responsible for the departments Financial Services, Paralegal & Risk, Foundation Office, and General Services.
